Wanted posts provide a interactive means of buying and selling.
With a single post you can: respond to multiple offers, purchase
different items, ask questions and negotiate the terms of the sale.
This page outlines the process of listing and managing your wanted posts. Our site features auction software that has many extra features that will allow you to easily manage and promote both your wanted posts and your auction listings.
Wanted Posts Fees and Commissions
There are NO FEES associated with placing a wanted listing on BidWit Auctions,
or for re-listing it should it fail to receive a response you accept. Yes, you read right - this is a FREE site created and maintained for the benefit of those interested in the buying and selling of horological and jewelry related items. This applies to both basic listings and listings utilizing optional features.
Listing a Wanted Item:
Items are listed in your members area under the Wanted Listings/Offers section. Listings can be as general as you like, though a broadly worded listing may result in responses that fall closer to the edge of your interests rather than the center. Because listings are free it doesn't cost extra to prioritize and break requests into multiple posts.
Each auction item contains the following information:
Category:
Choose a category from the drop down list in the List Item form.
Title:
Accurately describe your item with a title that can be up to 120 characters long. Good titles will attract attention and help to GENERATE RESPONSES!
Description:
Your description is most important to describing your item and answering potential questions for the buyer. It is generally advisable to list if there are any special needs, conditional criteria (example: "minor brassing acceptable on gold filled cases"), specific shipping methods required, and if you have items for trade. HTML is acceptable.
Ending Time:
You may select a day and time your auction will end from the drop down box on the List Item form.
Saving and Starting Listings:
Once you have completed the listing form you may start your Wanted Listing immediately by clicking the Post button, or save it to start for up to two weeks. To start pending wanted listings, click on My Auctions List (under Selling Tools Menu) and then click on the Pending Wanted Posts link, then select the listings you want to begin and click List Selected Posts.
Offers / Counteroffers / Questions:
Once your listing is posted, potential sellers will provide offers. You may accept, counteroffer or ask a question. Counteroffers and questions can continue until both parties are satisfied with the transaction. You will be notified via email of offers, counteroffers and questions.
When An Offer / Counteroffer is Accepted:
When offer / counteroffer has been accepted an email notice is sent to both parties. Additional offers can be responded to until your listing expires. Once your listing ends an email is sent advising you your listing is complete (note: notices are sent once per day, approximately at 1 AM EST).
Relisting or Deleting Your Wanted Posts:
You may relist your wanted posts for up to 30 days. Click on My Auctions List (under Selling Tools Menu) and click on Close Wanted Posts. Then click on the Relist link by each post. In addition to relisting you may delete your closed post by going to the My Auctions page, clicking on Close Wanted Posts and following the instructions given.
Purchases/Sales Area:
Your members area has a very handy section called Purchases/Sales where buyers and sellers can go to view completed transactions. Copies of the email invoices are kept there, and links are provided to make it easy for contacting the other party. This is also the section where Feedback can be left for another member, relating to a particular transaction.
